With the story line secured and the rewrites of scene I & II going well and re-energizing me, I was ready to take on scene III. However, I forgot how this works: the highs from completing one segment do not necessarily transfer when working on the next segment. Starting on scene III, I expected to just pick up where I left off in scene II. Instead, I found myself staring at what seemed a momentous hill to climb, much like resting too long for a lunch break on a long bike ride. The body goes cold and all that momentum I had before lunch has vanished.
Though, I do have a renewed confidence in the process. I know where I am going and I know where the characters are going. Sure, they may stumble along the way, but there is no doubt about getting there. So, I take a step back, breath deeply and know that scene III will indeed emerge.
